LINEUP AND START
The new start line will be at the corner of Loyola and Poydras. All of Poydras street will be closed on race day, and fenced off from Loyola to Lasalle for seeded runners. If you are a seeded runner, you will be able to access your corral by exiting Champions Square at Lasalle, then turning right.
Lasalle to Claiborne will have barricaded corrals for all non-seeded runners. You can access your starting area by going up onto the Superdome from Champions Square and then down Ramp A. Please line up in the area according to the color of your assigned race number (see color assignments below). Your bib number will also match the color of your assigned corral. PLEASE GO TO THE APPROPRIATE START AREA. Doing otherwise can prove unsafe as faster runners try to pass in very congested areas.
NEW WAVE START
Runners will be moved forward by volunteers to the actual starting area at 3 min incremements. The race will begin EXACTLY at 8:00am for Elites, Group A & Group B. Group C will start at 8:03am and each consecutive group will begin 3 mins after. Depending on your location, it may take a few minutes for you to actually reach the start. Be patient and courteous. There will be a large running digital clock at the start line. Deduct the time on that clock from your overall time to determine your actual finishing time or check your *chip time*. Everyone will be chipped and timed. Chip Time will be used this year for the official results (not Gun Time). For more information regarding your timing chip, click here.
Walkers are a great part of the Classic. We ask that walkers be particularly aware of those trying to pass. Please be considerate of not lining up more than two abreast. All walkers will begin at 8:30am, and will be lined up on Sugar Bowl Dr.
Note: All chip timing begins when you cross the start and finish lines. You are NOT penalized for starting near the rear. Slower runners and walkers present a danger to themselves and others when they try to start near the front. Please be courteous to your fellow participants.
Expo - The 501 Loyola Parking Lot & 1303 Girod Street garage will allow participants to park for $5 (for up to 3 hours only) all of Race Weekend (Thursday-Saturday), but must show bib number upon exiting for discounted rate! These are self-park lots. Please note that parking at the Hyatt is VALET ONLY, and standard rates apply.
Race Day - Runners can be dropped off downtown, near the start, by taking the Poydras ramp, then a left on Claiborne, and proceeding down Perdido or parallel streets and exiting towards Tulane. They can also park in Garage 5 at the Superdome ($5 cash only), accessable only by the Poydras/Superdome exit from I-10. If you wish to park near the Finish, by City Park, you can take advantage of our complimentary bus shuttles downtown, which will be picking up at Beau Bassich Circle from 5:30 am - 7:45 am.
