2014 Charity Partners Announced!

September 10 2013 | Crescent City Classic 10K News

The Crescent City Classic today announced their selection of 10 local charities to serve as the official Charity Partners of the 2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic 10K race, taking place in New Orleans on April 19, 2014.

As Charity Partners, the select 10 organizations will be part of the “Run For It” Program, the Official Charity Program of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic. The “Run For It” Program is in its second year.  After successfully generating over $105,000 for local charity and nonprofits in 2013, the Crescent City Classic is hoping to raise $1 million through the “Run For It” Program to serve the Greater New Orleans area needs.

“The funds and positive impact of the “Run For It” Program are important to the success of the Classic’s mission,” said Hilary Landry, Crescent City Classic Charity Coordinator.  “The Classic is proud to support local charities and their fundraising endeavors, and is proud to be able to donate every dollar raised by the charities directly back to the charities.”

Through the “Run For It” program, the Crescent City Classic donates 100 bib numbers (guaranteed race entries) to each Charity Partner.  Official Charity Partners then recruit 100 runners/walkers who can commit to raising a minimum of $200 for their charity by race day on April 19, 2014.

“We are thrilled to be an official Charity Partner of the [Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City] Classic for a second year.  The Crescent City Classic is a great sporting tradition, and we are looking forward to working together to benefit New Orleans,” said Kelly Gibson, Chairman of the Kelly Gibson Foundation.

This year, charities have been asked to raise a minimum of $10,000 by Race Day to be considered for the 2015 "Run For It" Program. In addition, any charity who supplies the Crescent City Classic with at least 50 volunteers on Race Day will be automatically accepted into the 2015 Program.
