Join us for NOLA's favorite holiday fun run! The Allstate Sugar Bowl Celebration in the Oaks Run/Walk gives locals the chance to participate in one of the most festive holiday events in the country! This 2-mile course takes participants through New Orleans City Park during their annual Celebration in the Oaks Light Display, when the park is decorated with over 500,000 lights! The day is filled with hot cocoa, pictures with Santa, a holiday costume contest, and much more!
The race, which begins in the late afternoon, is especially popular among families. Many of those running and walking this event do so with strollers or children right by their side. After the race, participants can enjoy free refreshments and complimentary entry into the walking tour of the beautifully decorated Botanical Garden, Storyland and Carousel Gardens, before the gates are open to the general public!
The 2-mile course begins on Victory Ave., passing in front of the entrance to Storyland before bearing a left onto Irby Ave. then another left onto Dreyfous Dr. Runners and walkers continue down Dreyfous, passing by the Great Lawn, City Putt & Morning Call, to the front of the park on Lelong Dr., where runners circle the New Orleans Museum of Art and continue down beautiful Roosevelt Mall. The course wraps around Roosevelt Mall near Tad Gormley Stadium, and finishes back on Victory Ave.
All event activities take place on Victory Avenue, inside the Great Lawn, across from Storyland, 7 Victory Ave., New Orleans, LA 70124. Parking is free, but limited inside the park. There is a parking lot adjacent to the Great Lawn & one next to City Putt (both on Dreyfous Dr.). Parking is also available on Marconi Ave. and City Park Ave. which are both within walking distance to the start of the race.
Dress in your holiday garb! We will have a Christmas costume contest and holiday-themed warm up session before the race, plus fun activities in our "Family Fun Zone" for kids, including face painting, inflatables and more. Santa will also be stopping by before the race for pictures.
Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. We will be collecting donations before the race begins.
Community Coffee hot chocolate, Michelob Ultra beer, Kentwood water, Gatorade, Blue Runner gumbo, fruit and cookies will be available after the race. Participants will receive complimentary entry into City Park's walking light tour with their bib number before the general public is allowed entry.
Awards will be given to the First Male & Female finishers, but there will be no formal awards ceremony following the race. Please also note: there will be clocks on the course, for you to record your time, but this is an unchipped race. Results will NOT be posted for this event.
